Questions to Ask Your
Wedding Videographer

Nine things worth knowing before you book—
and how we approach each one.

These are questions we recommend asking any videographer you're considering—whether you're comparing two vendors or ten. The answers will give you a solid sense of what to expect before, during, and after the wedding: your videographer's style and approach on the day itself, and the level of customer service they provide.

There's a wide spectrum in this industry. Some videographers picked up a camera a few months ago as a hobby. Others have spent years earning a post-graduate degree in cinematography and over a decade developing their approach and craft. The answers to these questions will help you understand exactly who you're hiring.

We recommend this list as your baseline when comparing vendors—and we've also included how we answer our own questions.

Question 01

Do I need to set aside dedicated time for videography on my timeline?

No—and that's intentional. We pride ourselves on moving with the day rather than directing it. Our style is candid and documentation-based, which means every moment we capture is organic. We follow your planner and photographer, never asking you to pose or perform.

If you do want specific staged or directed shots, we can absolutely accommodate that—just know it may add time to the getting-ready, ceremony, or reception portions of the day.

Everything you see in your wedding film is 100% you.

Question 02

Do you produce shots, or do you focus on candid moments?

We focus on candid moments—but we're flexible with your vision. We've produced shots in the past and can accommodate specific requests. What we won't do is build an entire video around staging and acting.

Our documentary approach means you don't have to feel like an actor on your wedding day. You stay present, we stay quiet, and the day unfolds naturally on film. Many of our reviews speak directly to how much that hands-off style meant to them.

Question 03

Do you edit the videos yourself?

Yes. Jon edits every film he shoots, himself. Many videography companies at higher volume outsource editing to someone who wasn't present on the wedding day—which can make the final product feel less personal.

Because Jon is emotionally invested in every couple he films, the editing reflects that. He tailors each video to capture your personality, your emotions, and your story.

Question 04

Is the music legally licensed? Will it affect sharing online?

Yes—all music is legally licensed, so you can share your film without worrying about it being flagged or taken down.

We use licensed music libraries and can share those resources if you'd like to participate in selecting songs. We also capture audio throughout your day—vows, speeches, ceremony moments—to create a soundtrack that's genuinely yours. If you have a live band, Jon can incorporate those performances directly into the film.

Question 05

Do you provide full-length coverage?

Yes. We offer Extended Coverage Reels—think of them as a modern take on the classic wedding video. They give you everything from the most important moments to the intimate behind-the-scenes coverage, arranged chronologically so you can press play and relive the day from beginning to end.

These include music, audio, multiple camera angles, drone coverage when applicable, venue establishing shots, and cinematic editing. They're designed to feel polished, not raw—a true time capsule of your day.

Question 06

Are you flexible with deliverables?

Absolutely. Our standard deliverable is a Highlight Film—typically 8–10 minutes, covering the full day from arrival to departure, edited to music with meaningful audio clips woven in.

We can also provide raw footage on request, create vertical Instagram edits optimized for social media, and customize packages to fit what matters most to you. Additional edits can always be requested later—you've already completed the most important step by choosing an experienced videographer.

Question 07

Do you offer a re-edit?

Yes. We include one complimentary re-edit. If you'd like a shot removed, a different song, or any other adjustment, we'll take care of it. We simply ask that you provide timestamps and specific feedback so we can make sure everything is exactly right.

Question 08

How do you work with other vendors?

Seamlessly and with intention. We work alongside planners, photographers, DJs, and other wedding professionals as a natural extension of the team—mindful of their work, never in the way of it.

Because our approach is candid rather than directive, we don't need to stage or interrupt. We follow your planner, your photographer, or both, and document everything as it naturally unfolds.

Question 09

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We have a standard payment structure under our packages tab, and we're happy to work with couples who need a customized schedule. Just communicate with us—flexibility is something we extend to every part of the process.
