What should I ask my wedding videographer?

Believe it or not, wedding planning can be stressful! It's often hard to know where to start and what questions to ask—but have no fear! We've curated a list of questions to ask, reflect on, and consider when selecting a wedding videographer.

Question 1.) Do I need to set aside dedicated time for videography on my timeline?

A lot of prospective clients ask us this question, and we're happy to answer that you don't need to set aside dedicated time for videography! As videographers, we pride ourselves on our ability to quickly adjust and go with the flow. We want to keep your wedding day as stress-free as possible.

One of the qualities that sets us apart from other videography companies is that we don't produce or schedule shots. Our videography style is candid and documentation-based, so all of the moments we capture are organic. Before, during, and after the ceremony, we will follow the planner and photographer—but we won't direct any shots. We work collaboratively with the photographer and will be there to document the process, but we won't have you act in any way. Our main focus is cinematic documentation. If you have specific moments you'd like included or directed, we can absolutely accommodate that. Just keep in mind that planning, staging, and directing shots may add more time to the getting ready, ceremony, and reception portions of your wedding day.

Question 2.) Do you produce shots or do you focus on candid moments?

This goes along with Question 1. We don't normally produce shots, but we're flexible with your vision for your wedding video! We have produced some shots in the past, but we won't produce an entire video (producing meaning staging, acting, etc.).

What sets us apart from other videography companies is our documentary-style videography. We highly encourage our clients not to feel like actors on their wedding day—it helps relieve some of the stress and allows you to stay present in the moment. Just relax, take your time, and enjoy your day instead of worrying about performing for the camera.

We're proud to say that many of our reviews mention how much our hands-off style of documentation means to them when it comes to capturing their special moments. Everything you see in your wedding film is 100% you.

Question 3.) Do you edit the videos yourself?

Yes! Jon edits all of the videos he shoots himself.

Many wedding videography companies have a high volume of clients and outsource their editing to people who weren't present on the wedding day. While that works for some companies, it can sometimes cause videos to feel less personal and authentic.

Jon prides himself on being emotionally invested in the couples he films. Because of that, he tailors each video during the editing process to best capture the couple's personality, emotions, and story.

Question 4.) Is my music legally licensed, and will this impact sharing online?

Yes. We legally license all of the music we use so you can share your video online without worrying about it being flagged or taken down.

We utilize licensed music libraries and can share those resources with clients who would like to participate in selecting music for their film. We also capture audio throughout your wedding day, including ceremony moments, vows, and speeches, allowing us to create a truly personal soundtrack.

If you're unsure where to start, we can provide samples and recommendations for the types of music and audio that work well for different sections of your wedding film.

If you have live music or a band performing, Jon can also incorporate those performances into your video to authentically document the atmosphere and emotions of that moment.

Question 5.) Do you provide full-length coverage?

Yes, we provide Extended Coverage Reels aka Extras Reels. Think of them as a modern version of the classic wedding video—they give you everything from the most important parts of the day to the intimate behind the scenes coverage.

We take the best angles from each part of the ceremony and wedding day and arrange them chronologically so you can press play and relive the day from beginning to end.

We don't typically provide raw footage as part of our packages, but we can make arrangements if that's something you're interested in. Our Edited Extras Reels include music, audio, multiple camera angles, drone coverage (when applicable), venue establishing shots, and cinematic editing. They're designed to serve as a time capsule of your wedding day while maintaining the same polished quality as your highlight film.

Question 6.) Are you flexible with deliverables (length, input, etc.)?

Absolutely.

We are flexible with what we deliver after the wedding. Our standard deliverable is a Highlight Film, typically an 8–10 minute montage of the entire day—from the moment we arrive to the moment we leave.

We carefully edit the film to music and include meaningful audio clips, focusing on important moments such as vows and speeches. Every wedding is different, so the final edit may vary based on what is most important to each couple.

We can also provide raw footage upon request if you'd like access to the original files. Additionally, we create Instagram edits tailored specifically for social media. These videos are typically vertical, fast-paced, and music-forward.

We are flexible in capturing what matters most to you, and our packages can often be customized as well. Additional edits can always be requested later. You've already completed the most important step by choosing an experienced videographer to capture your special day!

Question 7.) Do you offer a re-edit?

Yes, we do offer a re-edit!

If you'd like a shot removed, prefer a different song, or would like another adjustment made, we can modify the edit as needed. We offer one complimentary re-edit.

When requesting changes, we simply ask that you provide timestamps and specific feedback so we can make sure everything is just right.

Question 8.) How do you collaborate with other vendors for a seamless experience?

One of the most important behind-the-scenes aspects of our work is collaborating with your vendors.

Even if we're not part of the same company, we do our best to work seamlessly alongside planners, photographers, DJs, and other wedding professionals. While filming, we're always mindful of the other vendors and make every effort not to interfere with their work.

Because of our candid approach to videography, we don't need to stage shots or direct moments. Instead, we'll simply follow the lead of your planner, photographer, or both while documenting your day as it naturally unfolds.

Question 9.) Do you offer payment plans?

Yes, we offer payment plans!

As we've mentioned before, we're flexible—just communicate with us. We do have a standard payment structure located under our packages tab. We're happy to work with couples who need a customized payment schedule.
